Having seen the negative impact that products like ours can have on the environment, we’re committed to doing things a bit differently.
We implement ethical and environmental sustainability practices across the life of every card we make. From the raw materials we use, to the way these are assembled and right through to how the finished card is recycled.
Ethically Made
Our products are hand made at SMETA-approved factories in China. SMETA is a regular audit administered by a UK based organisation (sedex.com). The audit ensures that working standards are fair and that health and safety, environmental and business ethics are maintained. We have a team that oversees the manufacturing process, ensuring every product we design and manufacture has sustainability at the heart of it.
Our Materials
Pop Around (Non-electronic Cards)
Pop Around is the world’s first range of ‘Closed Loop’ interactive pop up greeting cards. The whole card, including all internal elements such as tabs, string and tip-ons are made from 100% recycled paper. After use the cards can be recycled with regular cardboard collections.
They are printed using soy based inks, a renewable alternative to more traditional petroleum based ink.
Pop, Light & Sound (Electronic Cards)
Our electronic cards have musical and light up elements powered by non-replaceable alkaline-based batteries. The components we use are 100% lead-free, certified according to RoHS standards (the UK standard for the restriction of hazardous substances).
We have also phased out the use of EVA foam in our cards, replacing this with recycled cardboard.
We are continually looking at how to make our components more environmentally friendly, such as recycled plastic in speakers, reducing wires and using reusable PCBs.
Recycling Our Products
Our cards are designed to be enjoyed time and time again, such as Christmas cards that work as decorations each year, or our Flower Truck card with its removable birthday bunting. Our cards are often kept as keepsakes.
However, if you want to dispose of your card, it is quick and easy to do so. Our Pop Around (non-electronic) cards are fully recyclable. The card, envelope, and packaging can simply be put in your recycling bin - job done!
Our Pop, Light & Sound cards are slightly different. Because they contain electronic components, they should be recycled with waste electronic equipment (WEEE). Some local councils offer curb-side collection for small WEEE but if not, we can help!
We offer a free collection by post for our Pop, Light & Sound cards. You can send your old cards back to us and we will ensure they are recycled properly. A QR code on the back of the card will provide you or your recipient with simple instructions to do this.
